Spot Gloss Ink Printing- Special Effect

Spot Gloss Ink Printing- Special Effect

SPOT GLOSS INK PRINTING

Spot gloss is a clear ink that is applied over a specific area, such as a shape or lettering, that results in a super shiny spot. Spot UV ink is cured under an UV light for extra shine. Spot gloss is especially effective if you combine it with a contrasting finish, such as matte lamination.

HOW TO CREATE SPOT GLOSS INK PRINTING IN ART

Create a separate layer in your artwork (c + m + y + k + spot UV) and designate it as the spot UV layer. Film will need to be generated for this layer.

PROOFING SPOT GLOSS

If you need to proof the spot gloss effect with actual clear ink, paper, and finish, you will need a special film-based press proof. Otherwise, a standard proofset will show it as a distinct, solid color print out.

AREAS SPOT GLOSS CAN BE APPLIED

Spot gloss can be added to shapes, letters, or even to a droplet by itself. Large area coverage of spot gloss is not recommend as it can peel over edges. To do a large glossy area, consider gloss lamination.
