Special Effect Printing – Spot Gloss Ink Printing
SPOT GLOSS is a clear ink that is applied over a spot, such as a shape or lettering, that results in a super shiny, transparent inky. Spot UV ink is cured under an UV light for extra shine. Spot gloss is especially effective if you combine it with a contrasting finish, such as matte lamination.
- Strongest Effect:
- Spot UV Gloss + Matte Lamination
- Softer Effects:
- Regular spot gloss
- Spot gloss on uncoated paper or fiberboard paper
- HOW TO SET UP
Create a separate layer in your artwork (c + m + y + k + spot UV) and designate it as the spot UV layer. Film will need to be generated for this layer. If you need to proof the spot layer with actual clear ink, you will need a special press proof. Otherwise, the standard proofset will show it as a distinct, solid color print out.
Spot gloss can be added to shapes, letters, or even a droplet by itself.
